Stone Stop Ground Preparation

Application Requirements

TaşStop should be applied to clean and dry stones. Therefore, a period of dry weather before application is important. Old stones may be dirty, contain debris and new stones may have silt deposits from the quarry on their surface. A dirty layer on the stone surface will prevent effective bond formation. Before applying TaşStop, stones should be washed with plenty of water and the mud should be drained off. Then, it should be waited for drying.

TaşStop is a water-based product. It is ready to use, but water dilutes the resin and limits its bonding strength. TaşStop Ultra SLV is a solvent-based binder. It is extremely important that the stones are completely dry. Otherwise, foaming and adhesion problems may be observed in the binder. For both applications, care should be taken that the weather is not rainy for 48 hours after application and that the temperature does not fall below 5 °C.

Proper Ground Preparation
It is extremely important to apply TaşStop on a free-draining surface. There are 2 reasons for this;

TasStop is water based and therefore may break down if left submerged in water for very long periods of time (2 days or more).

Water saturated stones will experience the freeze-thaw effect and this will break the bond between the stones or weaken the bonds between the stones. The most suitable base material for TaşStop is compressed crushed stone. This system should be strong and robust in structure as well as allowing water to flow into the soil. Instead of covers that will block the water at the base, covers that will drain the water should be preferred. TaşStop Ultra SLV resin is more resistant to water accumulation with its superior polymer structure. However, providing drainage conditions is a structural requirement for all products in order for the system to function properly.
